The illustrations are produced using strictly
traditional technique, rendered by hand from start to finish. Through an
adherence to traditional, manual method, as well as the occasional use of
airbrushed acrylic technique, each illustration exhibits high quality both in
its rich colour as well as its attention to precise detail work.
When working with publishers he usually begins by
utilizing a script or brief. A black and white graphite sketch is then used to
establish the image and provide the opportunity for review of contents, as well
as any necessary changes. Once all revisions have been made and the sketches
approved, Andrea proceeds to execute the final version in full colour.
Dedicated to exacting scientific accuracy and a high degree of realism, Andrea
can at times spend more time preparing and researching each image than in act
of painting itself.
All final work is then supplied in high quality digital
files which can be downloaded or emailed.
